The preparation of [Ru2Cl5(PEtPh2)4·Ag(PEtPh2)] by direct interaction of silver(I) chloride with triply chloride bridged diruthenium complexes

Abstract

The reaction of [Ru2Cl4(PEtPh2)5], [Ru2Cl3(PEtPh2)6]Cl, or [RuCl2(PEtPh2)3] with equimolar amounts of AgCl at ambient temperature in methanol gives the novel, fluxional, hetertrimetallic complex [Ru2Cl5(PEtPh2)4·Ag(PEtPh2)] whose structure has been determined X-ray crystallography and 31P{1H} n.m.r. spectroscopy.
