Synthesis and X-ray crystal and molecular structure of the mixed-metal cluster anion[Os6Au(CO)20H2]

Abstract

The unsaturated mixed-metal cluster anion [Os6Au(CO)20H2] has been prepared as its [N(PPh3)2]+ salt by the reaction of [Os3Au(CO)10(PR3)H](R = Ph, Et) with [N(PPh3)2]Cl; its X-ray crystal structure shows that the AuI atom links two ‘Os3(CO)10H’ units via co-ordination to two short Os–Os bonds.
