Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of a 1,1-dithiolate cluster compound containing a cube of eight AgI atoms, [AgI8{S2C[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CN)2}6]4–

Abstract

The novel [AgI8{S2C[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CN)2}6]4– cluster compound contains a cube of Ag1 atoms (average AgI–AgI distance 3·02 Å) which is inscribed into an icosahedron of twelve S atoms so that each AgI atom is planar co-ordinated by a triangular arrangeement of three S atoms.
