Simple conversion of cycloalkenes into bromo-substituted prostanoid endoperoxides (dioxabicyclo[n.2.1]alkanes)

Abstract

Dioxabicyclo[n.2.1]alkanes bearing a cis-bromine on the one-carbon bridge are readily prepared from cycloalkenes by the sequence singlet oxygenation, bromination, and treatment with silver trifluoroacetate.
