Experimental determination of the standard reduction potential of the gold(I) ion

Abstract

Changes in potential observed on diluting solutions of Au(MeCN)2+ in acetonitrile with 0·1 M aqueous HClO4 up to 99·6% water at 25 °C are consistent with a value of E°= 1·695 ± 0·01 V for the standard reduction potential of the AuI ion.
