Dehydropeptides related to β-lactam antibiotics: a scheme for the biosynthesis of Penicillins and Cephalosporins

Abstract

Cystinylvaline and cysteinyldehydrovaline derivatives have been oxidised to isothiazolidinones, a new group of peptide derivatives; a chemically reasonable scheme for the biosynthesis of β-lactam antibiotics is presented.
