Novel cleavage of phosphinoacetylene by palladium(II) and platinum(II): preparation and structure of complexes of 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)-2-tri-fluoromethylpropene derived from 3,3,3-trifluoropropynyldiphenylphosphine

Abstract

Unsymmetrical ditertiary phosphine complexes [Ph2PCH2C(CF3)[double bond, length as m-dash]CHPPh2]–MX2(M = Pd or Pt and X = Cl or SCN) have been prepared by reaction of Ph2PC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CCF3 with MX42– salts and characterized by an X-ray study of the Pd(SCN)2 derivatives.
