Reaction of tetracyclopropylethylene with tetracyanoethylene
Abstract
Tetracyclopropylethylene reacts with tetracyanoethylene to give a cyclopropane-cleaved tricyclopropylvinylcyclopentane derivative; this is in striking contrast to the 2 + 2 cycloadditions of di- and tricyclopropylethylene with tetracyanoethylene in which cyclobutane derivatives are formed.
