The reaction of halogens with [(π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2]2 and related compounds
Abstract
The reaction of [(π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2]2 with iodine in chloroform solution has been shown to proceed via a rapidly formed ionic intermediate {[(π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2]2I} X (X–= I3– or I–) which slowly decomposes to the final product, (π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2I.
