Determination of thiamine and riboflavin in pet foods and animal feedingstuffs
Abstract
A method is given for the determination of thiamine (vitamin B1) and riboflavin (vitamin B2) in pet foods and animal feedingstuffs. The vitamins are extracted from the food matrix by digestion with 0.1 M hydrochloric acid followed by enzyme digestion with clara-diastase. The filtered solution is analysed by reversed-phase HPLC for riboflavin (directly) and thiamine (after thiochrome formation) using fluorescence detection.
