Continuous determination of ammonia in condensed steam and high-purity boiler feed-water by using a potentiometric ammonia probe

Abstract

The Electronic Instruments Ltd. 8002–6 Ammonia Probe has been investigated for its use in the continuous determination of ammonia in condensed steam and boiler feed-water. The technique is simple and of adequate precision and accuracy for use in the power industry. The standard deviations of single measurements made on 0·1 and 0·44 µg ml–1 ammonia solutions not more than 12 hours after standardisation were 0·008 and 0·04 µg ml–1 of ammonia, respectively.
