Investigation of the polarographic determination of 2-ethylanthraquinone

Abstract

The polarographic determination of 2-ethylanthraquinone in three different alcohol-water solvents and two different supporting electrolytes has been investigated. It has been found that the viscosity of the solvent has a large effect on the magnitude of the diffusion current. The effect has been shown to be due to the change in the diffusion coefficient of 2-ethylanthraquinone with a change in the viscosity of the solvent. Experimental values for diffusion currents have been shown to be in agreement with the theoretical values.
