The resolution of mixtures of aliphatic and terpene-type 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones by thin-layer chromatography on silica gel

Abstract

Mixtures of aliphatic and terpene-type 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones can be separated by thin-layer chromatography on silica gel layers whether or not impregnated by vapour-phase adsorption of nitromethane or acetonitrile. The Galanos and Kapoulas method for RF value correction has been tested on different types of silica gel layers. The method has given consistent results on the silica gel preparation used.
