A hexadentate Co(iii) catalyst enables one-pot quinazolinone synthesis via metal–ligand cooperative alcohol activation

Abstract

Herein, we present the first Co(III)-catalysed efficient metal–ligand cooperative route for the synthesis of quinazolinones via dehydrogenation of primary alcohols. An air-stable phosphine-free Co(III) complex anchored by a hexadentate ligand was efficiently utilized for the synthesis of a wide variety of quinazolinone derivatives (28 examples).
