Organo-photocatalyzed deoxygenative alkylcarboxylation of olefins with alcohols and CO2
Abstract
Herein, we report a general protocol for CO2 involved alkylative carboxylation of alkenes under photocatalysis, where alcohols serve as alkyl sources to provide alkyl radicals via a desulfurative process from in situ generated xanthate salts. Compared to existing works, our approach features a more easily accessible alkyl source and broader substrate scope, accommodating primary, secondary and tertiary carbons. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction is initiated by single-electron reduction between the photoexcited catalyst and xanthate salt.
