Modulation of singlet oxygen and superoxide radical generation by peripherally functionalized porphyrin(2.1.2.1) organopalladium complexes
Abstract
Three palladium(II) porphyrin complexes with different substituents were synthesised in order to systematically investigate their structures, electronic properties and photosensitising performance. All three complexes exhibit typical non-aromatic characteristics, with maximum absorption wavelengths ranging from 500 to 510 nm. Palladium(II) porphyrin(2.2.1.1) complexes containing nitro groups at the benzo units demonstrated 1O2 and O2˙− generation capabilities under blue and red light irradiation, with significantly higher activities than complexes containing nitro groups at the meso-positions.
