Suspending redox-active phenothiazine on a conjugated polythiophene cathode for aluminum dual-ion batteries

Abstract

A conjugated polymer (PPTZT) featuring polythiophene mainchains with redox-active phenothiazine pendants is engineered as an anion-hosting cathode for aluminum dual-ion batteries. The synergistic function of the built-in electron-transfer pathway of the polythiophene backbone and electrochemically separated phenothiazine pendants endows PPTZT with a high capacity of 210 mAh g−1 and excellent rate performance.
