Boric acid-mediated sol–gel construction of transparent, photoactive TiO2 films

Abstract

A water-based sol–gel strategy driven by boron coordination enables the direct fabrication of transparent, photoactive TiO2 films under ambient conditions. Mixing ammonium oxo-lactato titanate with boric acid produces non-fluidic gels that dry into amorphous TiO2 films containing rutile-like domains.
