Transition-metal–free borylative functionalization of aryl fluorides with boron alkoxide in the presence of sodium dispersion

Abstract

Borylative functionlization of an aryl fluoride was performed using a transition-metal–free process with sodium dispersion (SD). The reaction of 4-fluorobiphenyl with boron alkoxide (iPrOBpin) in the presence of SD afforded the borylated product in up to 62% yield. The borylation reaction proceeded with several aryl fluorides in good to excellent yields.
