Influence of dimensionality on optical properties of doped assembly of gold nanoclusters†
Abstract
We report successful doping of Mn2+ ions within zinc mediated assembly of gold nanoclusters (Zn Au NCs). This resulted in the emergence of luminescence attributed to the doped Mn2+ ions, accompanied by simultaneous quenching of the luminescence of Zn Au NCs. The chemical doping of the Zn Au NCs assembly with Mn2+ ions took place progressively during the synthesis process with concomitant changes in the size of the assembly, which resulted in sequential changes in the optical properties of the Mn2+ doped Zn Au NCs assembly. Careful monitoring of changes in optical properties during the synthesis provided valuable insight into the doping process.
