Summary review of spectral frequency division utilization of renewable radiant energy
Abstract
The combined use of solar energy and radiative cooling utilization can simultaneously develop the energy utilization of solar and outer space, the two ultimate “heat sources” and “cold sources”. Both types of energy can be harnessed through radiation. However, the effects produced by radiation of different wavelengths vary greatly. UV ages materials, visible light affects transparency, and NIR leads to thermalization, in addition to mid- and far-infrared emission, which is key to obtaining cold energy from space through thermal radiation. Therefore, in this paper, from the perspective that radiant energy in each band of the spectral distribution has different properties, functions, and energies, the means of efficient utilization of radiant energy in each band are reviewed, and the latest research on multifunctionality using specific spectra is expanded and introduced. The applications that can utilize multi-band radiant energy and the corresponding optimization means are summarized and analyzed, which are expected to provide valuable references for the multi-band synergistic photothermal regulation of radiant energy. Finally, coupling devices, optimization strategies, and commercialization are discussed with respect to the spectral utilization of radiant energy.
