KOH-mediated synthesis of amides from azides and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds

Abstract

A simple method for the preparation of N-phenylbenzamides from azidobenzenes and 1,3-diphenylpropane-1,3-diones is described. In this reaction, N-phenylbenzamides were generated by [3+2] cycloaddition and intramolecular ring opening. The products were afforded in yields of 35–84% under mild conditions.
