Investigation of Al Kα satellite lines through a high efficiency multi-channel FSSR

Abstract

Investigating the interactions between energetic electrons and metals, which generate diagram lines and satellite lines, can provide insights into atomic de-excitation dynamics, chemical compositions, ionization cross-sections, and so on. In this paper, we introduce a self-developed multi-channel Focusing Spectrometer with Spatial Resolution (FSSR) and measure K-shell X-ray spectra from Al target impacted by electron beam. As a result, diagram line K_α and satellite lines K_α L^n (n=1-4) are observed. The high contrast spectra result demonstrates that our FSSR has a high efficiency to detect those satellite lines. The energy shifts of different satellite lines groups relative to the diagram line are compared with theoretical models and the Al KL double ionization cross-sections are calculated, as well as the TS2 process cross-sections is also estimated.
