Constructing low-k polymers at high frequency from two propenyl-containing biomasses through the grubbs reaction

Abstract

Two low-k polymers with good hydrophobicity and a low dielectric constant of less than 2.7 and a dielectric loss of lower than 0.0025 at a high frequency of 10 GHz have been prepared from biobased isoeugenol and anethole through the Grubbs reaction, and the results also indicate that converting the methoxy group of isoeugenol into trifluoromethyl-containing aromatic rings can greatly improve the dielectric properties of the polymer, suggesting the fluorinated bio-based polymer is suitable for the fabrication of devices used for 5G communication.
