Schiff base Mo(vi) complexes grafted on Merrifield resin as recyclable and efficient catalysts for the synthesis of pyrrole-2-ones†
Abstract
Schiff base Mo(VI) complexes have been grafted onto different generations of diethanolamine branched Merrifield resin through several steps of substitution reactions and used as heterogeneous catalysts to synthesize pyrrolin-2-ones from aromatic amines, aldehydes and ethyl pyruvate via a one-pot reaction. This method has the advantages of high yield, simple steps, short reaction time, low catalyst loading and mild conditions. The catalysts can be recycled from the reaction mixture by filtration and reused in the subsequent runs at least eight times without losing significant catalytic activity.
