Magnetic MoS2 efficient heterogeneous photocatalyst for the α-methoxymethylation and aminomethylation of aromatic ketones

Abstract

Magnetic MoS2 quantum dot (CuFeO2/polydopamine (PDA)/MoS2) was prepared through a facile and convenient method. The structure and texture of the as-prepared catalyst were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) techniques. CuFeO2/PDA/MoS2 was found to be a highly active photocatalyst for the α-methoxymethylation and aminomethylation of aromatic ketones by using methanol as a green C1 source under visible-light irradiation at room temperature. The photocatalyst could be recovered by magnetic separation and successfully reused for 5 cycles without considerable loss of catalytic activity.
