Rose-shaped VS2 nanosheets as cathode materials for rechargeable zinc ion batteries

Abstract

With the increasing energy demand globally, it is extremely essential to design and develop stable and safe energy storage systems. Various aqueous multivalent ion batteries are considered worthwhile choices. In particular, zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) have attracted much attention owing to their characteristics of environmental friendliness, high safety and unique properties. Herein, we report VS2 nanosheet structure as the positive electrode material through a facile synthesized route. The assembled Zn/VS2-24 battery with a 2 M ZnSO4 electrolyte delivers a specific capacity of 169.86 mA h g−1 at a current density of 0.5 A g−1. In addition, it can still maintain a capacity of 130.90 mA h g−1 after 700 cycles at 2 A g−1.
