Progress review of asymmetric polymers for organic solar cells

Abstract

Organic solar cells (OSCs) based on a symmetry-breaking strategy have received lots of attention in recent years. In addition to the symmetry-breaking innovation of acceptors, researchers have also made great contributions to the development of high-performance OSCs through continuous optimization and improvement of asymmetric donor materials. This review focuses on the design and synthesis of asymmetric donor materials and their applications in high-efficiency OSCs, as well as guidelines for future structure designs and the direction for the development of OSCs based on asymmetric polymers.
