Recent developments in the asymmetric synthesis and functionalization of symmetrical and unsymmetrical gem-diborylalkanes

Abstract

gem-Diborylalkanes are an important class of organoboron compounds as they function as a key building block in organic synthesis. In the last decade, there has been growing interest in the enantioselective synthesis of gem-diborylalkanes to access a sp3 chiral center with two functionalizable groups. This review summarizes the recent development of the enantioselective synthesis of gem-diborylalkanes and their application in asymmetric synthesis.
