Advances in the synthesis and application of the SSZ-39 zeolite

Abstract

Zeolites, especially aluminosilicate zeolites, have been widely used in the process of petroleum refining, environmental protection, and fine chemicals. In the past few decades, great attention has been paid to small-pore zeolites with 8-membered rings due to their excellent performances. One of the typical examples is the SSZ-39 zeolite, which has superior performance in the selective catalytic reduction of NOx with ammonia (NH3-SCR). In this review, the recent advances in the synthesis of the SSZ-39 zeolite are briefly discussed including using different organic templates, developing synthetic routes, and enhancing mass transfer. In addition, the applications of the SSZ-39 zeolite such as NH3-SCR and methanol-to-olefin (MTO) reactions have been outlined. This review might be helpful for zeolite researchers to easily understand the synthesis and applications of the SSZ-39 zeolite.
