A green low-temperature preparation of iron molybdate with durable electrochemical performances

Abstract

Herein, nano-Fe2(MoO4)3 (FMO) has been prepared by a green sol–gel route at a low temperature (350 °C), which is far below the conventional value (above 650 °C). Encouragingly, as an anode of a Li-half battery, the most suitable FMO exhibited a large discharge capacity (477.6 mA h g−1 after 500 cycles at 1.0 A g−1), high diffusion coefficient of Li+ ions (2.94 × 10−13 cm2 s−1), and excellent rate capability. The lithium storage mechanism has also been explored by ex situ SEM and XRD. This study provides a promising anode candidate for next-generation Li batteries via an energy-saving and environment-friendly route.
