Visible-light-induced, catalyst and additive-free cycloaddition of vinylcyclopropanes: access to sulfur-containing seven-membered heterocycles

Abstract

Here we describe a visible-light-induced, catalyst and additive-free approach for the [5 + 2] cycloadditions of vinylcyclopropanes (VCPs) with thioparabanates. This operationally simple strategy provides straightforward and atom-economic access to functionalized sulfur-containing seven-membered heterocycles, which bear two contiguous fully substituted stereogenic centers under mild reaction conditions.
