A novel fluorescent probe of aluminium ions based on rhodamine derivatives and its application in biological imaging

Abstract

With the rapid development of fluorescence detection technology, people have put forward higher requirements for probes. Based on this, we designed and synthesized probe RBJF, which has high selectivity and sensitivity to aluminium ions. We chose Rhodamine B as the fluorophore, which reacts with 1,3-phenylenediamine to generate a unique “ON–OFF” effect, and then reacts with pyridine-3-sulfonyl chloride to enhance the rigidity of the structure. Aluminium ions can induce ring-opening of probe RBJF, which produces a strong fluorescence effect and color change seen by the human eye. We verified the good specific response of probe RBJF to aluminium ions through ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. To verify the application ability of probe RBJF in the biological environment, we conducted experiments in human breast cells, zebrafish, soybean root tissue and even natural water samples. The results showed that probe RBJF has a high degree of stability and biological application value.
