Fused triazolotriazine bearing a gem-dinitro group: a promising high energy density material

Abstract

Six energetic compounds bearing the dinitromethyl group and based on the triazolotriazine fused ring skeleton were achieved. All structures were confirmed using infrared spectroscopy (IR), 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Among them, potassium salt and neutral compound 3,7-bis(fluorodinitromethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[5,1-c][1,2,4]triazin-4-amine exhibit high densities (2.06 g cm−3 and 1.95 g cm−3, respectively), detonation velocities of up to 9028 m s−1, and excellent friction sensitivity (>360 N).
