Sampling unit for efficient signal detection and application to liquid chromatography-Raman spectroscopy

Abstract

This paper outlines the design of various sampling units for Raman spectroscopy. A novel design of the sampling unit is then described in detail. This is a vertical flow sampling unit that enhances the Raman signal intensity and improves the signal detection sensitivity by utilizing the total reflection of light. The improved sensitivity of the Raman measurement allows for combining Raman spectroscopy with liquid chromatography (LC-Raman). The LC-Raman spectrometer constructed with the flowing sampling unit, specifically the vertical flow sampling unit, is also described.
