MOF-derived 1D hollow bimetallic iron(iii) oxide nanorods: effects of metal-addition on phase transition, morphology and magnetic properties

Abstract

Precisely designed 1D hollow nanomaterials are desirable for investigating morphology-dependent properties and functionalities. However, the general synthetic methods for morphology-controlled bimetallic iron(III) oxide nanorods showing hollow structures are still limited. In this research, a new strategy to prepare 1D bimetallic hollow iron oxides from chemically treated metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is reported. In addition, the effects of various metal dopants with different values of hardness and ionic radius on the crystal phase, morphology, and magnetic properties of iron(III) oxides generated via the thermal treatment process are studied.
