Direct fabrication of bimetallic AuPt nanobrick spherical nanoarchitectonics for the oxygen reduction reaction

Abstract

The shape-controlled synthesis of bimetallic Pt-based nanoarchitectonics has attracted considerable interest due to their remarkable electrocatalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). In this work, we report a direct method for the fabrication of unique bimetallic AuPt nanobrick spherical nanoarchitectonics (AuPt NSNs) in aqueous solution. Benefiting from their rugged surfaces and bimetallic compositions, AuPt NSNs exhibit excellent electrocatalytic performance for the ORR. The proposed method is very useful for the fabrication of metallic nanoarchitectonics with rugged surfaces.
