Non-flammable and moisture-permeable UV protection films only from plant polymers and clay minerals

Abstract

Here, we propose a novel technique that combines lignin nanoparticles and clay minerals into transparent, non-flammable and moisture-permeable UV protection films without requiring a petroleum-based component. The preparation process is entirely free of hazardous chemicals. The film's function can be tuned by varying the botanical origin of lignin.
