Construction of structurally diverse luminescent lead(ii) fluorinated coordination polymers based on auxiliary ligands

Abstract

Four novel Pb(II) fluorinated coordination polymers, [Pb(TFIPA)(2,2′-bpy)]n (1), [Pb(TFIPA)(1,10-phen)]n (2), [Pb(TFIPA)(4,4′-bpy)0.5(H2O)]n (3), and [Pb(TFIPA)(1,3-bpp)]n (4), were obtained by hydrothermal reaction of lead nitrate with 2,4,5,6-tetrafluoroisophthalic acid (H2TFIPA) in the presence of corresponding N-donor auxiliary ligands 2,2′-bipyridine (2,2′-bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (1,10-phen), 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and 1,3-bis(1-pyrenyl) propane (1,3-bpp). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that complexes 1 and 2 exhibited two-dimensional (2D) networks and complexes 3 and 4 had 3D networks. The structural direction effect of N-donor auxiliary ligands on the formation of the coordination networks was shown in the four complexes, and the distinction of coordination architectures was due to both the coordination geometry of the metal centers and the coordination mode of auxiliary ligands. The structural stabilities and photoluminescent properties of the complexes were also investigated.
