Application of Electron Transfer Catalyst in Light-induced Aerobic Oxidation of Alcohols

Abstract

The first heterogeneous photocatalyst system with the bipyridinium-based complex as electron transfer catalyst has been developed for aerobic oxidation of alcohols without the use of noble-metal, external N-oxide or peroxide co-oxidants. The current work provides an efficient strategy for alcohol oxidation through a cost-effective, convenient and eco-friendly route.
