An octanuclear Mn III4Dy III4 cluster connected via two μ5-NO3 bridges with slow relaxation of magnetization

Abstract

A unique octanuclear MnIII4DyIII4 cluster was synthesized and designated as [MnIII4DyIII4(mbm)145-NO3)2(μ-NO3)2(MeOH)2](NO3)6·12H2O (1) (mbm is (1-methyl-benzoimdazol-2-yl)methanolate). The octanuclear cluster was connected by two μ5-NO3 bridges. Magnetic studies showed that 1 displays probable single molecule magnetic behavior.
