An electrospun alumina–borate oxide nanofiber and reduced graphene oxide composite modified carbon paste electrode as the electrochemical sensor for simultaneous determination of dopamine and noscapine

Abstract

In this work, we focused on a novel sensitive voltammetric sensor based on a porous alumina–borate oxide fiber (AlBF) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) modified carbon paste electrode for simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and noscapine (NOS) using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) methods to investigate their electrochemical behavior. Porous AlBFs were prepared via an electrospinning method using aluminium acetate stabilized with boric acid and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as the precursors. The AlBFs were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques as well as energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). In addition, the surface morphology of the modified electrode (RGO/AlBF/CPE) was examined via FE-SEM imaging analysis. Due to the electro-catalytic effect of RGO and AlBFs, the modified electrode was able to accelerate the electron transfer oxidation of DA and NOS and improve their oxidation currents. Using the DPV method, the modified sensor showed wide linear ranges of 0.04–200 μM and 0.07–300 μM and low detection limits of 0.028 μM and 0.049 μM toward DA and NOS, respectively. The good stability, reproducibility and selectivity of the modified electrode can make it a promising electrochemical sensor for determination of DA and NOS in real samples with satisfactory results.
