Laser-induced fabrication of Ag@SiO2@Ag sandwich nanostructures having enhanced catalytic performances

Abstract

Ag@SiO2@Ag sandwich nanostructures with highly enhanced catalytic performances have been fabricated in a facile and eco-friendly manner by just irradiating 355 nm laser pulses to an ethanol colloidal solution of Ag@SiO2@Ag-seed nanoparticles for 30 min. The sandwich nanostructures can be further transformed into hollow SiO2@Ag nanostructures with irradiation for an additional 30 min.
