Highly efficient sulfur dioxide capture by glyme–lithium salt ionic liquids

Abstract

A series of glyme–lithium salt ionic liquids were prepared and applied in SO2 absorption. The formed quasi-aza-crown ether fashioned between Li+ and glymes can effectively reduce the solvent volatilization, and have an excellent SO2 absorption capacity. In addition, the mechanism of the interaction between SO2 and ionic liquids was investigated by IR and NMR.
