l-Lactide polymerization studied by 1H NMR with diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY): a “One NMR Tube Experiment” providing data on monomer conversion, polymer structure, Mn and Mw

Abstract

L-Lactide polymerization was studied by a “One NMR Tube Experiment”. Traditional 1H NMR, which provides structural information, conversion values, and number average molar mass (Mn), was combined with diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY), yielding a mass averaged molar mass (Mw). Thus, a complete kinetic experiment could be performed without sampling, and hence in one NMR tube.
