One-pot synthesis of Pt hollow spheres and their performance on electrochemical catalysis

Abstract

In this study, Pt hollow spheres were prepared by using a surfactant (C18N3) that functioned as both a reducing agent and structure template in solvothermal reaction systems. The influence of the concentration of C18N3 on the size of the Pt hollow spheres was studied and the formation mechanism of the Pt hollow spheres was also investigated. Cyclic voltammetry towards the oxidation of methanol in H2SO4 proved that the as-prepared Pt hollow spheres have high electrochemical catalytic activity and stability.
