A series of efficient red phosphor K2SiF6:Mn4+ nanoparticles with uniform morphology and dispersity were successfully prepared through a fast liquid–solid solution route at room temperature. Potassium oleate and SiO2 spheres/KMnO4 molar ratio play an important role in the formation of the nanorod structures. When the KOH/oleic acid quality ratio is about 2.5 : 1 and the SiO2 spheres/KMnO4 molar ratio is about 1 : 10, the length of the nanorods is 1–2 μm and the width is 300–700 nm. Under UV and blue excitation, K2SiF6:Mn4+ samples show strong red emission, corresponding to the characteristic lines of Mn4+.
