Reduced fluorenoazomethine based photoluminescence turn-on sensors for transition metal ions

Abstract

Photoluminescence (PL) turn-on sensors for first row transition metal ions have been developed based on reduced fluorenoazomethine podands. The bare podands, which are in the PL-quenched state, are quantitatively converted into an emissive charge-transfer species upon metal-ion binding, leading to a remarkable PL enhancement.
