Template-free hydrothermal synthesis of copper hollow microspheres: microstructure, formation mechanism and compression plasticity
Abstract
Hollow metallic copper (0) spheres (HMCSs) about 2 to 6 μm in diameter were successfully synthesized via a mild template-free hydrothermal method. A possible formation mechanism, which was related to the Ostwald ripening process, is proposed. In addition, compression tests showed that these pure Cu hollow microspheres exhibit high compression plasticity.
