Unprecedented non-cytotoxic [CoIII4LnIII]-core complexes with a tripodal oxime ligand – synthesis, structure, properties and potential applications

Abstract

A series of [LnIII(H2O)2CoIII4O2Hx(Ox3H)4](ClO4)y (Ln = Gd (1), Sm (2), La (3); x = 0, 1; y = 3, 4) complexes (where Ox3H3 = tris(2-hydroxyiminopropyl)amine) with a novel-topology heterometallic core are presented. 1 is paramagnetic and 2 is weakly paramagnetic. The complexes were also characterized by IR spectroscopy, EDX, cyclic voltammetry, ESI-MS and elemental analyses. Potential for biological applications was assessed with MTT and stability tests.
